About Dr. Joe
Dr. Joe Simpson founded Simpson & Adkisson in 1979, returning home to East Tennessee to build a practice rooted in knowing his patients by name and treating them with honesty and care.
A Farragut native, Dr. Joe graduated from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville before earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. Over the decades since, he has completed hundreds of hours of continuing education at leading institutions across the country — a lifelong commitment to his craft that earned him the Tennessee Dental Association’s ACE Award multiple times.
For nearly 50 years, Dr. Joe has focused on cosmetic and family dentistry, combining clinical precision with an artist’s eye for natural, lasting results. He has been a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry since 1988 and has completed countless smile makeovers throughout his career — always guided by the same patient-first, gentle-touch philosophy that has defined the practice from the beginning.

Beyond the Practice
Dr. Joe and his wife, Sandy, have two children, Andrew and Natalie. Outside of dentistry, he enjoys backpacking, sailing and skiing — and the kind of East Tennessee outdoors that brought him home in the first place.
In 2026, after nearly five decades of caring for the families of Lenoir City, Dr. Joe is stepping into a well-earned retirement.
